Layers ran a joint workshop with Intradoc and one of the Layers GP Practices to explore how the Layers tools could work with the Intradoc software already in use at the Practice. This half-day workshop involved Layers partners from the Bits and Pieces and Living Documents design teams as well as clinicians, administrative and IT staff from the GP Practice and senior staff from Intradoc. Two of the Layers tools (Bits and Pieces and Living Documents) were presented and options for Open Source integration with Intradoc were discussed.
GP practice staff also had the opportunity to highlight their priorities for development work and their support needs. This workshop has helped to further the development of a collaborative working relationship between Layers and Intradoc and is contributing to the development of learning tools for healthcare that can be sustained beyond the Layers project lifetime. It is an example of Layers identifying common interests and developing partnerships with commercial stakeholders. We are keen to continue work in this area and would welcome contacts from other stakeholders who have a shared interest in using technology to support informal learning in healthcare to explore how we could work with them.
