Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (http://www.hs-karlsruhe.de/en/home.html) is the largest institution of its type in the German state of Baden-Württemberg with more than 650 staff members and 7.000 students. It offers degree programs in engineering, economics and computer science on both bachelor and master level. Alongside teaching, research plays a vital role at the university as one of its core competencies. This ranges from joint graduate schools with other universities for more long-term research to direct industry cooperations. E.g., HsKA has initiated a innovation alliance with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Fraunhofer Society for SMEs in the Karlsruhe IT cluster. To facilitate national and international research (e.g., in various EU research programmes), the Institute for Applied Research provides an excellent interdisciplinary infrastructure and environment, and it has successfully quadrupled the research activities in recent years to make HsKA one of the most research intensive universities of applied sciences. HsKA will lead WP3 and contribute to the empirical studies in WP1and to Gardening services in WP5.
