Dr. Milos Kravcik
Milos is a senior research associate at the Advanced Community Information Systems group at the Information Systems and Databases chair, RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He has been dealing with Technology Enhanced Learning since 1988 when he started to work at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Later he has conducted and managed R&D in various projects. Since 2001 he has been working abroad, first at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology in Germany and later at the Open University in the Netherlands. At Fraunhofer he was part of a team that developed a Web based adaptive learning environment for the field of design and architecture. He also participated in the RAFT project, one of the first in the area of mobile learning. In the PROLEARN Network of Excellence he coordinated the work-package on Personalized Adaptive Learning and at the end he achieved the highest degree centrality in the network. At the Open University in Heerlen his main activity in the TENCompetence project was organization of training and in the GRAPPLE project he lead a work-package aiming at deployment of adaptive learning solutions in academic settings. In the ICOPER project he dealt with standardization and interoperability in e-learning. He was also reviewer of an EC-funded project as well as workshop, tutorial, and demonstration co-chair of the UMAP (User Modeling, Adaptation, and Personalization) 2009 Conference. He has co-organized various workshops, webinars, conferences, and journal special issues. In addition he is executive peer-reviewer of several journals, including Journal of Educational Technology & Society and IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies, as well as editorial board member for the International Journal of Technology Enhanced Learning.
